North Carolina requires your car to pass an emission test in order to maintain your vehicle license. The EGR Valve caused my check engine light to come on. Autozone offers free computer diagnostic in the parking lot. I bought this part for $58.99 + a $30 deposit for the old part. They carried it in stock! When I looked at the job, I estimated it would take 45 minutes. The actual time it took me was 2-1/2 hours.
The job consisted of removal of the air intake hose assembly, removal of the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve (two bolts, a vacuum hose, and an electrical connection) Installation was in reverse of the removal, with the addition of a new gasket) Not sure how much it would cost at a dealer, I would estimate between $500 – $1200!! My labor is a bit cheaper. 🙂 LOL
Oh, and it solved my check engine light problem and I felt like I beat the MAN. yea!
Total Cost: $63.27 – includes 7.25 % tax
Vehicle: 2000 Dodge, Grand Caravan, 3.3 liter engine

The best way to find the part, is buy one, and look under the hood for something similar. But, I do believe it is located near the throttle body, and the screws were relatively difficult to get at. It is not difficult to replace, it just takes a little patients and some raw knuckles. 🙂

the EGR valve is behide the throttle body on the 3.3L on the 3.0’s its the same

i was told just to disconnect the positive cable and that would reset the computor, kill the idiot light and i would be good to go. of course the dealer say someting totaly different

@Ron R: Yes, I disconnected the battery cable to reset the computer. Worked like a champ ever since. 🙂

i was told that the metal tubing going from egr valve and exaust could be getting clogged or possibly the wire connector could have a wire loose as well was told to clean and check these 2 before buying the part
